Placenta is the only organ formed out of tissue from two different organisms. Placenta has the role in
supplying nutrients and oxygen to the fetus. Placental maturity may be evaluated by ultrasonography,
when blood flow Doppler flows are observed through the uterus, between the uterus and placenta, as
well as further cascade of circulation through the umbilical cord and, of course, within the fetus itself.
Fetus is actually a small human being within the mother’s body. Having that in mind, the circulations
monitored in adult may also be monitored in the fetus. The priority in the cascade of diagnosis is blood
flow through the fetal brain so complications in subsequent physical, mental and complete development
of the future baby are prevented.
