Ultrasonography is a non-invasive method of examination which provides image of internal genitalia.
The image is formed based on reflection of ultrasound waves from the probe to the organs creating
perception in different tissue structures. Ultrasonography is a subjective method but of great
importance for diagnosis. The examination may be performed by vaginal probe (placed via vagina or
rectum if the first is unavailable) or trans-abdominal probe.
Doppler ultrasound examination is a method based on Doppler Effect and enables observing of
vascularization, namely small pelvis structures blood supply. This method is significant both in
pregnancy and outside of it for different pathological conditions in gynecology that may be timely
diagnosed.
